Hotels of all sizes are realizing the
potential of improving their IT
infrastructure with regards to their
sustainability efforts. However, the
full potential can only be achieved by
implementing initiatives, setting clear
goals, metrics and reporting mechanisms
so as to provide a basis for action and
continuous improvements. We have
started recycling used printers and toners-
cartridges and implemented software to
monitor and reduce the amount of papers
printing and copying.
The Front Office and Finance departments
have implemented an Efficiency &
Sustainability Programme. A programme
focusing on identifying administrative and
control processes to redesign and enhance
the efficiency with the development of
technology E-procedures implementation
to reduce significantly the paper used.
By implementing this initiative, the Hala
Arjaan hotel in UAE has cut its paper
consumption by 50% in the first month.
Beside, other practices implemented
by different departments has helped
to reduce printing, copying and paper
consumption.
