The hotel has hosted its annual charity
event, “Make A Difference Day” for the
12th year running. The event, which
was held at the Beach Garden offered
families a fun day out where kids enjoyed
activities such as a bouncy castle and
other carnival games. The main reason
of our success this year was the team’s
efforts at promoting the event and we are
proud to say that our collection of USD
60,000 from this year has exceeded any
in the past. All proceeds from the sale of
these coupons and sponsorships went
directly to the two beneficiaries of Make A
Difference Day – Emirates Wildlife Society
in association with WWF (EWS-WWF) and
Médecins Sans Frontieres.
Yas Island Rotana in Abu Dhabi, UAE
The hotel has partnered with The
Smile Foundation to bring healthcare to
children with craniofacial deformities.
Through constant promotion on all our
media channels and the fervent support
of our team, especially those from
our Front Offices, our colleagues and
guests continued to donate significant
contributions to the programme. We were
able to raise an amount of USD 30,000
for this partnership, which can support
the surgeries of around 120 children with
missing smiles.
Cancer - Terry Fox Run
86% of Rotana hotels participated in
the Annual “Terry Fox Run”, which
is recognised as the largest one-day
fundraiser for cancer research in the
world. It has successfully funded 16
research projects with the UAE University
and eight new projects, which will
continue to impact the lives of patients
and their families of the UAE.
Autism Awareness Walk
The Future Centre for Special Needs
celebrated its 4th Autism Awareness Walk
in Abu Dhabi. Rotana hotels participated
along with more than 2,500 people
holding lit candles and walked for the
cause of autism awareness.
Clean Up Campaigns
More than 50% of Rotana hotels
participated in Clean Up Campaigns in
various countries and included deserts
and beaches.
“Plant a Palm Tree” Campaign
The Coral Beach Rotana Resort Hurghada
planted 1000 palm trees in the Rotana
garden. Each palm tree was financed by
a guest or colleague and hold their names
on it with a certificate.
Blood Donation
33% of Rotana hotels participated
in blood donation campaigns.
Partnership - Launch of the Hospitality
& Tourism Management Programme
Between Sabis University in Erbil, Iraq
and Rotana Hotels The Hospitality and
Tourism Management Programme is a four
year bachelor degree programme and is
the latest addition to SABIS University’s
academic offerings with Erbil Rotana
offering its platform for training and
development in addition to the corporate
support for putting the programme
together.
