Rotana supports the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi
Rotana proudly supports The Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) in their campaign #MyGreenResolution. EAD is committed to protecting and enhancing air quality, groundwater as well as the biodiversity of our desert and marine ecosystem. The #MyGreenResolution campaign consists of triggering staff, thinkers, scientists, students at universities and schools, as well as the broader public to post their environmentally-sound New Year’s resolutions on EAD’s social media channels on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. As part of the campaign, EAD is collating green resolutions from the public with the hashtag #MyGreenResolution. Read more about the campaign.
Filipino brides say, “I do”
The month of love made lovelier by Villa Rotana through a mass wedding organized at the Filipino consulate at Al Qusais which witnessed 10 couples getting married. Villa Rotana and Rihab Rotana provided support for each couple and their marriage by offering room night stays or dining vouchers and a bouquet of flowers to all brides. This unique humanitarian project by the hotels fulfilled the dreams of 10 couples and made a difference in their lives in starting their journey being man and wife.
World Water Day
Centro Capital Centre by Rotana, in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC), Agthia Group and Abu Dhabi Refreshments Company (Pepsi) celebrated World Water Day 2015, by giving an awareness session about water conservation, water & energy and sustainability. Afterwards, the Colleagues Welfare Committee of Centro Capital Centre distributed 2,000 Al Ain water bottles to municipality and construction workers. Learn more
On the 28th of March 2015, Rotana celebrated EARTH HOUR. Several Rotana hotels dimmed down lights or switched off non-essential power and lights for one hour to help raise awareness on climate change.
Dubai Autism Centre Day
Villa Rotana joined hands by organising and hosting a fun day for the children of the Dubai Autism Centre. A total of around 30 children were treated to an exciting and fun-filled day at Villa Rotana. The event featured fun games for the students with prizes, face painting, a magic show and other games, and was followed by a special lunch buffet.
Rotana celebrates Earth Day
Earth Day was first celebrated on the 22nd of April 1970. The event was created to make people aware of the importance of protecting our environment. Rotana hotels celebrated Earth Day this year by organizing the following activities including: clean up campaigns to support, protect, and nurture the environment, workshops highlighting the significance of Earth Day and to increase awareness about environmental protection, selected Rotana hotels offered green Earth Day menus, drinks and cookies by using as well special organic products, planting activities, and Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana in Abu Dhabi hosted again “The Battle of the Bottles”.
Autism Speaks at Park Rotana Abu Dhabi
In efforts to shed the light on Autism and spread more awareness on this disorder that develops in the children’s early years, Park Rotana Abu Dhabi hosted students from the ‘Special Care Centre’ for a fun morning of games and magic. The children participated in a host of special activities such as face painting, balloon bending and a puzzle fixing session where they put together the alphabets forming the word, ‘Park Rotana’ with the assistance of the team at the hotel and their teachers. The significance of the puzzle in the world of autism has become multi-faceted as it represents the mystery and complexity of this disorder. Following these activities, the kids enjoyed a live magic show where they were enthralled by the magician who had many tricks up his sleeve. Learn more
Villa Rotana took a step forward and initiated an internal fund raising campaign that benefited all 17 Nepalese colleagues from the 3 hotels and also conducted a clothes donation campaign in partnership with Emirates Red Crescent. The campaign had participation from all colleagues at the 3 hotels which generated an amount of AED 5,000 and 21 boxes of new, used clothes and linens from the hotels.
World Oceans Day
In partnership with Dubai Municipality, Dubai Police-Rescue and Transport Team and Filipino Scuba Divers in Dubai, Villa Rotana took part in protecting and preserving one of the world's most valuable resources on World Oceans Day 2015. The hotel colleagues collected a total of 27 bags mixed trash from under the sea and the shoreline of the Jumeirah Beach.
Children’s Art Fair at Park Rotana
As part of the World Environment Day, Park Rotana Abu Dhabi in association with Brighton College Abu Dhabi organized a Children’s Art Fair. The opening of the exhibition was held on the 7th of June at the hotel whereby 250 students from the pre-prep section showcased 11 creative pieces of art made from recyclable items. The items represented different themes such as, ‘Think Global, Act Local’, ‘Nature’s chair supporting human kind’ and ‘Tree of hope’ all aimed to raise awareness on the importance of waste management. 'Bright Side' Lightens up the Senses
Rose Rayhaan by Rotana held a fun filled day event for the Senses Residential and Day Care Centre for special needs children in collaboration with the Bright Side Dubai Art Training Centre. Recognising the importance of giving special needs individuals the ability to integrate into society as independent individuals, the event was bringing more awareness to the community and providing fun activities for children by putting smiles on their faces and making a difference in children’s lives. Work experience for Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs students.
For four months 8 Al Noor special needs students between 18 to 23 years old have been undergoing a training programme at Centro Barsha in the departments of housekeeping, laundry, administration and kitchen. The work experience is aimed at providing hands-on education and emotional support in a real work environment. Learn more
Centro Sharjah Hosts Iftar for The Old Peoples Home in Sharjah
Centro Sharjah hosted an Iftar Gathering for around 100 residents of The Old Peoples Home in Sharjah. During the Iftar Gathering, management not only serve food to the elders but were actively involved in interacting with them, entertaining them and instilling a sentiment of belonging. Learn more
An act of kindness and support towards Fujairah Welfare Association
Fujairah Rotana Resort & Spa and Nour Arjaan by Rotana reinforced again their commitment towards the society. Sharing the blessing of the holy month of Ramadan, the two hotels welcomed Fujairah Welfare Association over an Iftar gathering, and participated in their charitable spirit with fifty thousand dirhams cash. The aim from this contribution is to cover the cost of tutors for many children living in the UAE and striving for education however their family’s financial status doesn’t allow them to realize their dream. The Cove Rotana Resort, Substantiates its Commitment to the Environment
Commited to achieving environmental sustainability, The Cove Rotana Resort - Ras Al Khaimah aquired a machine to decompose waste food, reducing waste disposal to landfill and the production of harmful gases. The liquid food composter is installed in the hotel wet garbage room and has a capacity of 270 kg of daily food waste input, which accelerates the digestion of most food products and bio-plastics within 24 hours. Salalah Rotana Resort conducts beach cleaning drive
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility effort and to enhance team building, Salalah Rotana Resort set a day aside for a “Beach Cleaning Drive" where colleagues were invited for a day to clean its private beach by picking any visible waste material. A team of colleagues from Amwaj Rotana embarked on its first Community Day all in the spirit of giving back to the community. The task was to distribute refreshments such as cold water, fresh fruits, muffins and soft drinks to those working around the hotel vicinity in the summer heat. Centro Capital Centre participated in Health Authority - Abu Dhabi's annual “Working Safely in the Heat” campaign by distributing 1,000 bottles of water and 200 packs of juices, along with awareness materials related to the campaign. Let's Talk About Breast Cancer
To commemorate the Breast Cancer awareness month, Jumeira Rotana and Villa Rotana celebrated Pink Day in collaboration with Belhoul European Hospital and Belhoul Speciality Hospital. A specialist from the hospital conducted an awareness session about breast cancer and how to detect it at an early stage. Learn more
Walk for LIFE with Rotana
Rotana hotels in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain successfully hosted the Walk for LIFE 2015 in collaboration with Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), to raise awareness about diabetes and walk together “towards a healthy lifestyle”. Colleagues from Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Rotana along with Sheikh Khalifa Medical City’s staff walked hand in hand from Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana to the Heritage Village (UAE flag) and back. The 350 enthusiastic participants were happy to share this experience and support a great cause. Afterwards, participants and guests did the blood sugar testing and spoke, on the spot, with medical experts on different ways to treat and prevent diabetes. Learn more
Make a Difference Day
Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi hosted its15th annual charity fundraiser, Make A Difference Day. Over AED 230,000 were raised, benefiting both The Grace Conservation - Emirates Red Crescent, and the Make A Wish foundation UAE. This year’s edition of Make A Difference Day was a half day “fun fair fiesta” for children, featuring an arcade full of kids activities and games, a live ice carving demonstration, an inflatable kids plays area, and the “water zone”, featuring water balloon fun and the very popular dunking pool. Over 600 children crafted, created and played their way across the Beach Rotana courtyard and beach areas, with the day’s festivities culminating in a live auction to dunk two Rotana executives: Hotel General Manager Mathieu van Alphen, and Rotana's President & CEO Omer Kaddouri.
Erbil International Marathon 2015
Erbil Rotana participated in the 2015 Erbil Marathon and collaborated with Media Diagnostic Centre in commemoration of the Breast Cancer awareness month. Promoting the cause of breast cancer was one of the main objectives. More than 3000 breast cancer motif ribbons were prepared and distributed among the participants while advising them on how to detect it at an early stage. At the end, Erbil Rotana provided 3 vouchers for a monographic breast cancer test at Media Diagnostic Centre. Learn more
Ability, Not Disability
Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Centre for special needs people organized a two day workshop to raise awareness about people with disabilities, give back to the community and spend time with children. During these two days all the volunteers and the girls from the Abu Dhabi Centre for special needs people accompanied by their teachers made some amazing candles, colorful bracelets, traditional Arabic dresses and small pieces of textile to be used in many different ways.
