Top Student Achievments from Manar Al Eman Charity School

Towers Rotana, a leading 4-star hotel located on Dubai’s prominent Sheikh Zayed Road partnered with Manar Al Eman Charity School to identify and recognise the top 7 achievers from the 2016 high school graduating class. 

 

No Bin Day at Oryx Rotana

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility effort, Oryx Rotana launched a concept to reduce the food wastage in the colleagues “Dine Inn”. The amount of food waste produced globally each year is more than enough to feed nearly one billion hungry people in the world. 

World Cancer Day

On this year’s occasion of World Cancer Day, Raouché Arjaan by Rotana hosted a fun day for the children of the Children's Cancer Center Beirut. The children were thrilled in painting on bottles, making flowers and bracelets and participating in the animation when Jerry the mouse came along and took a picture with each and every child. 

Earth Hour

On the 19th of March 2016, Rotana celebrated EARTH HOUR.

Several Rotana hotels in the region dimmed down lights or switched off non-essential lights for one hour to help raise awareness on climate change. Hotel guests were also invited to participate in this initiative by switching off the lights in their rooms.

Organic Garden at Amwaj Rotana

Amwaj Rotana kicks off a series of ‘green’ and sustainable initiatives including growing its own herbs and vegetables. Under the guidance and implementation by Executive Chef, Rainer Mueller and his team, the hotel has completed the planting of vegetables and herbs such as tomatoes, mint, lemongrass, chilli, oregano, thyme and basil – essential ingredients used in the hotel’s cooking

 

Blood Donation Drive - Jumeira Rotana & Villa Rotana

Jumeira Rotana and Villa Rotana in collaboration with Dubai Blood Donation Centre organised a blood donation drive under the slogan of “Save Life, Give Blood” as part of reassuring their commitment towards the community. The campaign raised awareness and resulted in gathering more than 30 colleagues who had the courage to be a blood donor from different departments from the two hotels. 

 

Rotana celebrates Earth Day

Earth Day was first celebrated on 22 April 1970. The event was created to make people aware of the importance of protecting our environment. Rotana hotels celebrated Earth Day this year by organizing several activities: Vegan Day at Oryx Rotana to preserve Earth’s natural resources and “Planting is Giving” initiative by Al Manshar Rotana in which guests and colleagues planted bougainvillea saplings.

Battle of the Bottles

Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana organized the “Battle of the Bottles” boat race on the 20th of April. This event was organized to mark the Earth Day - a unique and worldwide event in which environmental protection and awareness of climate change is highlighted to citizens around the world. All Rotana hotels in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain participated with their own innovative recycled boats and made a splash by the beach side of the Arabian Gulf during the boat race. A Maori Haka Dance competition and the Mr. Neptune and Ms. Mermaid pageant was also held, and they scored points for design, innovation and use of recycled materials in their costumes. 

World Environment Day celebrations at Park Rotana

Park Rotana Abu Dhabi in association with Brighton College Abu Dhabi organized a Children’s Art Fair for the second year running, as part of the World Environment Day celebrations. The exhibition was held at the hotel whereby Pre-Prep students showcased twelve wonderfully ingenious pieces of art all made from recyclable items. Under the umbrella theme Join the race to make the world a better place, the different items represented a myriad of themes such as, “First line sea defenders”, “Floating Island”, “Polar decline, race against time” and “The Domino Effect”. All the pieces aimed to raise awareness on the importance of issues including waste management, environmental conservation, marine protection and climate change. 

World Oceans Day

Jumeira Rotana and Villa Rotana, in partnership with Dubai Municipality, Emirates Marine Environmental Group (EMEG) and in collaboration with the Filipino Scuba Divers Club, did an underwater clean-up at the Jebel Ali Marine Sanctuary. This initiative was done to protect and preserve one of the world's most valuable resources on the World Ocean's Day 2016.

Zakat project by Park Rotana

Park Rotana Abu Dhabi launched the project Zakat this Ramadan, aimed at extending help to workers in two of the Abu Dhabi labour camps. The drive called for hotel colleagues to donate basic food items like rice, lentils, oil, canned food and biscuits; as well as other living essentials such as toiletries, linen, kitchen items, shoes and clothes.

Iftar with Family Gathering Community Centre

Celebrating the true essence of the Holy month of Ramadan, Jumeira Rotana hosted around 75 persons for an Iftar feast on the 27th of June 2016 in the Al Mamzar Community Centre for the Elderly. 

Ramadan Care Packages from Al Manshar Rotana

Al Manshar Rotana, the only five star Rotana property in Kuwait, and WSP l Parsons Brinckerhoff, a leading professional services firms with 34,000 employees based in more than 500 offices, across 40 countries arranged a charity campaign for construction workers in Kuwait. 100 packages containing basic hygiene items were prepared and distributed at the labourers accommodation in Fahaheel area. 

Health Awareness Day

To commemorate the World Health Organisation day and spread awareness on healthy living among employees, Downtown Rotana, the newly opened luxury hotel in the heart of Manama, hosted a Health Awareness Day, in cooperation with the Bahrain Specialist Hospital (BSH).Over 90 employees of the hotel received complimentary medical screening that included blood sugar tests, blood pressure, height and weight among others. 

Ramadan with the Orphans of Al Kawther Society

To celebrate the spirit of Ramadan, Downtown Rotana hosted more than 20 orphans from Al-Kawther Society at the Al Maha Tent. Children aged between 6 and 14 enjoyed the iftar buffet prepared by the hotel chefs, and spent their evening enjoying a host of games, songs and presents to mark the gargaoun festivities. This is the first of a series of planned activities by the hotel showing its sincere effort to engage with the community and give back to those less fortunate. 

Blood Donation Drive

Downtown Rotana participated in a blood donation drive held at the hotel’s premises, in cooperation with the Salmaniya Hospital of Bahrain on Wednesday 10th August, 2016. This initiative was an effort to support the Hospital’s needs, and help raise awareness about the significance of blood donations to the community, over 51 Downtown Rotana employees volunteered to support the cause and give blood.  

Al Kawther Youth Culinary Workshop

In line with its commitment to work closely with Al Kawther Society and provide mentorship for the orphaned youth through a series of learning and development activities, Downtown Rotana hosted 10 teenagers, aged 14-18 years old, to a day of culinary learning, team building activities and kitchen fun on Tuesday 9th August, 2016. 

 

Emirati Women's Day at Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan

In the occasion of the Emirati Woman’s Day celebration, Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan hosted a workshop “Empower and Inspire Emirati Women” in collaboration with Mrs. Azza Al Qubaisi. The event took place at the hotel on the 27th of August.

Housekeeping appreciation day

Al Manshar Rotana, surprised the housekeeping colleagues by distributing apples in the morning to start their day. In the afternoon, surprise visits were done to distribute chocolates to all to boost their energies after a long day of hard work. The housekeeping colleagues were all smiles while receiving their humble treats.

The celebration didn’t end there. The hotel colleagues have prepared joyful activities, games and prizes! 

UAE flay day celebration at Towers Rotana

Our leading 4-star hotel, Towers Rotana, celebrated the 2016 UAE Flag Day with the pastry students from ‘Smiles N’ Stuff’ of Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs. The half-day training session on how to decorate a blueberry custard filled vanilla cake was conducted by Pastry Chef, Tharindu Ranatunga to 6 students with the objective of decorating the best UAE Flag Day inspired cake. 

Breast Cancer Awareness

Jumeira Rotana and Villa Rotana celebrated Pink Day in collaboration with Belhoul European Hospital and Belhoul Speciality Hospital. The specialist from the hospital spoke during the session to educate attendees about breast cancer and how to detect it at an early stage. In addition, Ms. Umaima Tinwala, a breast cancer survivor attended to share her inspiring story. 


World Food Day

In celebration of World Food Day Al Manshar Rotana launched a painting competition with a theme of: No to food hunger. Kuwait residents, students and artists alike were invited to participate! Voting was done through Al Manshar Rotana’s Facebook page and was actively being viewed and shared by the participants’ supporters. 
 


Spreading Happiness: Fun day with KACCH 

Children of KACCH and their families have had another fun day at Al Manshar Rotana Hotel in Fahaheel. There were games and gifts given to each of them. Kids were able to showcase their singing and dancing talents to all. The puppet show was a big hit, children and adults excitedly watched the show which was followed by puppet making. 

Birthday Celebration: Al Kharafi Kids Centre

Al Manshar Rotana have always been a great spot for celebrating birthday and conducting corporate events by many prestigious guets & clients. This time around the hotel hosted a really special birthday celebration for the disabled and special needs clildren of Al Kharafi Kids Center together with their families, aiming  to give back to the community. 

Walk for LIFE with Rotana

On November 19, 2016 Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana, Beach Rotana and Park Rotana in collaboration with Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) organized the 'Walk for LIFE with Rotana'. This special diabetes prevention event was held to raise the public awareness about diabetes and deliver a message of wellness and health. 

 

World Children’s Day

In celebration of World Children’s Day, Jumeira Rotana and Villa Rotana hosted a fun day with a group of children and women from the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC). In collaboration with DFWAC representatives, the 3 hour event was filled with fun activities and exciting games, followed by a sumptuous feast of freshly prepared food and gift-giving.


Make A Difference Day

Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi in collaboration with EWS-WWF created an 'edutaining' journey through time for kids. The event was designed as a time travel adventure through Abu Dhabi’s past, present and future, and the little explorers were entertained in 3 different areas with several activities; all connected to the history, culture and future of our home, Abu Dhabi. With the AED 100,000 collected, the Beach Rotana will support EWS – WWF’s “Gulf Green Turtle Conservation Initiative” and adopt a turtle to further ensure the protection of marine species and critical habitats in the UAE.
